Teen Faces Charges for Crash that Critically Injured Fairfield Warde Student
The driver's Jeep crashed into a utility pole on Knapps Highway in May.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler that crashed into a telephone pole on Knapps Highway and critically injured the passenger, fellow Fairfield Warde student Lee Faiga, in May has been charged with reckless driving, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports the 17-year-old girl, whose named wasn’t released because she is a juvenile, was also charged with violating passenger restrictions.
The teens left Fairfield Warde around 11 a.m. on May 27 in a Jeep traveling at a “high rate of speed” westbound on Knapps Highway, according to NBC Connecticut. The Jeep skidded sideways when the driver tried to turn and smashed into the utility pole.

The community rallied around Faiga, 19, immediately after the crash. Faiga was in a coma and her friends launched a GoFundMe account that raised $53,540 to assist with her medical expenses.
Faiga’s condition has since improved, according to the Citizen.
