Fairfield Flood Victims Can Apply For Low-Interest SBA Disaster Loans (patch.com) — Fairfield homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits hit by the Sept. 13 flash floods can now apply for low-interest federal disaster loans, following a request from First Selectperson Christine Vitale. Residents can get in-person help at the SBA outreach center in Bridgeport or apply online, with loans available for home repairs, personal property, business losses and economic injury.

Fairfield League Of Women Voters Hosts Legislative Candidate Debate This Month (patch.com) — Fairfield voters will have a chance to hear directly from candidates in three state House districts during a League of Women Voters debate on Oct. 20 at the Board of Education conference room. Residents can attend in person, submit questions on cards, or watch the livestream and recording on FairTV's YouTube channel, making it easy to compare who will represent Fairfield in Hartford.
   

4. Fairfield speed cameras issued $2.6 million in fines in 2 months as violations fell (ctpost.com) — Fairfield's new school zone speed cameras generated more than $2.6 million in fines over July and August, while violations dropped significantly in the second month. Town leaders say the trend shows drivers are slowing down, even as some residents and RTM members continue debating whether the program, now active at six school locations, should remain in place.
   

5. Here Are The Cheapest, Most Expensive Places To Get Gas In Fairfield (patch.com) — Drivers in Fairfield are paying about 5 cents more per gallon than the Connecticut average, with local stations averaging $4.50 for regular gas. A new price rundown compares 14 Fairfield stations, from the cheapest options on Villa Avenue and Jennings Road to higher-priced stops along Black Rock Turnpike, Post Road, Commerce Drive, and the Merritt Parkway service plazas.
