Charlie Keniston Retiring; Being Succeeded By Daughter
After 20 years, the well-known Town Councilor and Unionville resident is passing the business on to his daughter.
Town Councilor Charlie Keniston often jokes about the limited number of birthdays he has left in his 70s. And while his age hasn't slowed him down, after 20 years with Edward Jones Investment, Keniston's decided to retire as financial advisor at the Unionville office to pursue other things.
“I can truthfully say the most rewarding aspect of my job has been the many friendships and client relationships that have come my way,” Keniston stated. “As I approach retirement, I know these are what I will miss most.”
Charlie began his career with Edward Jones in 1994 and opened his first office with just 450 square feet on School Street.

“It was small” describes Charlie, “but it was the personalized service that made it big.”
Charlie says he and his team have helped hundreds of individual investors, as well as small businesses, civic organizations, and non-profits, achieve their individual financial goals through managed risk, proper diversification, and asset allocation.

The company was founded in 1922 and has more than 12,000 offices operating as a private partnership.
“This business was more than just a career for me; it was also like my hobby,” Charlie said. “Not only did I have and enjoy the opportunity to leverage my passion for the stock market and investments, but also I was able to help so many clients and friends achieve financial independence.”
While Charlie has decided to end his employment career, his idea of retirement won’t be filled with just rest and relaxation. In addition to frequent travel with his wife, Eileen, spending more time on the golf course, and enjoying his six grandchildren, Charlie will continue to remain an active elected member of the Farmington Town Council in addition to other community organizations, including the recently formed Community Emergency Response Team.
As Charlie looks toward retirement, his greatest desire was to leave his clients in good hands. “I couldn’t be more pleased or proud with my successor.”
Charlie said about his daughter, Kristine Blaha, who joined him in the business two years ago. “Having 10 years experience as Vice President and Director of Healthtrax, she was a natural fit,” added Charlie.
“Having the pleasure and opportunity to work with my Dad has been such a rewarding and memorable experience” said Kristine Blaha, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. “I’m honored and committed to continue the high level of personalized service that has made the Unionville office so successful.”
Keniston will remain a Limited Partner of the firm and serve as a consultant through May 2014. Charlie and Kristine can be contacted at Edward Jones, 37 Mill St., Unionville or at (860) 675.4922.
