Connecticut Sun to Honor Suzy Whaley Saturday

The Farmington resident and PGA secretary is one of three being honored as Women of Inspiration.

A pioneer in Connecticut women’s sports will be one of three recipients of Women of Inspiration recognition by the Connecticut Sun.

Suzy Whaley of Farmington, the first female officer of the Professional Golfers Association, will be presented the Margo Dydek award, named for a former Sun player who died suddenly in 2011 at age 37.

Whaley won the Connecticut Section PGA championship in 2002, which qualified her to participate in the 2003 Greater Hartford Open. She became the first woman to play in a PGA event in 57 years.
