Porter’s varsity cross country team recently competed at the Gordy Glover Invitational, held Saturday, October 4 at Suffield Academy. Strong performances by Molly Kozlowski ‘16 (5th place), Victoria Apuzzo ‘17 (6th place), and Audrey Jang ‘15 (9th place) as well as Abi Conner ‘17 and Emma Watters ‘16 contributed to the team’s overall victory against Suffield, Canterbury, Millbrook, Sacred Heart, Pomfret and Ethel Walker.
“Although cross country can seem like an individual endeavor at times, we’re trying to really work on competing as a team. This meet was a big step in the right direction. We knew we had a chance to win going into the meet, but there can be a big difference between planning and execution,” shares Head Coach Eric Henson. “In this meet, we executed pretty well. We had several athletes really step up to ensure the victory. What we’re starting to realize is that everyone may not always have a great race, but that’s just an opportunity for someone else to challenge herself to find a way to help the team.”
