A variety of lemonade flavors and cookies will be sold for $1. All proceeds will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which was established in 2000 by four-year-old cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). After Alex hosted her first lemonade stand, the non-profit foundation launched nationally, raising more than $55 million for cancer research and funding 250 research projects.
Childhood cancer hit close to home for the Village Gate family. Office assistant Karen Merriman lost her daughter Kim to the disease. The residents are hosting the lemonade stand in Kim’s honor and to help fulfill Alex’s lifelong vision.
