Mormon Temple under Construction in Farmington is now halfway finished
It's official: the Mormon Temple being built in Farmington is now halfway finished.
At a regional North American conference held in late April, authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially stated that the Mormon Temple being built in Farmington is now 50% complete. This announcement made me think not only of how the exterior currently looks (see photo) but also of the beautiful interiors now being fashioned.
When the temple is fully complete, it will be open to the public for a couple of weeks. After that, the temple will be dedicated and only members of the Church in good standing will be able to go inside. However, the landscaped grounds will remain open to all, and temple grounds are usually lovely, enhancing the already beautiful areas in which they flourish.
A Facebook page is available for anyone interested in following construction progress and being alerted as to when the open houses will be: https://www.facebook.com/hartfordconnecticuttemple

One reason (of many) why the gardens around temples are kept so faithfully is the Mormon belief in environmental stewardship and conservation of our earth. “The earth and all life upon it are much more than items to be consumed or conserved. God intends His creations to be aesthetically pleasing to enliven the mind and spirit, and some portions are to be preserved.”
