Players Needed for Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League

Teams are now forming for regional girls field hockey team.

The towns of Canton, Granby, Simsbury, Avon, Burlington and Farmington are working together to form teams for the Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League, according to an announcement from the Town of Canton.

Teams will be formed in each of the towns made up of players in grades 5 through 8. The 5th and 6th grade team will play 8 games with no goalie. The 7th and 8th grade team will play 11 games, with a goalie. Goalie equipment will be provided by the town.

The teams will practice once a week in their respective towns and games will be played on Sundays in each of the towns. Girls in grades 5 and 6 will play their games at 2:30 p.m. and girls in grades 7 and 8 will play their games at 4:00 p.m. Games are scheduled to run Sunday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 12. Makeup games will be scheduled as needed.

  • Shinguards
  • Eye protection/goggles
  • Mouth guards
  • Cleats
  • A hockey stick
  • A water bottle

Team jerseys will be provided.
