Porter’s varsity crew team recently held an “erg-a-thon” to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
During the all-day event, participants rowed on ergs (indoor rowing machines), and as a group rowed a total of 268,692 meters. The event, which included a bake sale and a website set up to receive donations, raised more than $1,100.
“The erg-a-thon blew our expectations out of the water,” shares Head Coach Robin Neschke. “We had over 70 students, faculty and families put distance in on the ergs and many more individuals donated and enjoyed baked goods. The members of the team did an outstanding job of teaching the community how to row. It was amazing to see such an energetic crowd surrounding the ergs for a great cause!”
