Varsity Soccer vs Greens Farms Academy: W 3-0
Recap: Porter’s varsity soccer recorded its seventh shutout of the season and seventh win of the campaign on a day where we celebrated our seniors. Kenzie Armington ‘15, Becca Clark ‘15 and Katie Maher ‘15 have made a tremendous contribution to this program on and off of the field. Their performances against Green Farms were at the same high standard that they have showcased all season. With 10 minutes left in the first half Emily Wogelius ‘17 entered the game in central midfield and almost immediately picked up the ball on the edge of the area, from a composed ball from Emma Updegrave ‘17, and beat the keeper from 20 yards out. While the girls were organized and looked to move the ball they still lacked a little intensity from what they were capable of implementing. With only a few minutes left of the half Emily slotted the ball through for Olivia Grommers ‘18, who delivered a perfect driven cross to the back post where Emma arrived to place the ball into the back of the net. Green Farms did not give up, and instead battled hard as they rallied each other to finish their own season on a high note. Mid-way through the second half Katie Maher ‘15 struck the ball from 25 yards which the keeper could not hold, and Kyra Bukowski ‘18 was on hand to finish the rebound making the score 3-0.

Varsity Soccer vs Westover: W 2-0
Recap: In the last game of the season Porter’s varsity soccer traveled to Westover less than 24 hours after their Green Farms victory. A win for the team would see them finish the season 8-8-3 and have an outside chance of a post season. With a short warm up and on a very uneven field the team found it very difficult to put their foot on the ball. The team’s main threat became sideways passes for the central midfielders to test the keeper from a distance as many through balls would run through to their keeper. Long distant shots from Lizzie Weller ‘17, Katie Maher ‘15 and Jenni VanMeter ‘16 went close but it was Mackenzie Kievman ‘18 who received the ball from Katie and took a shot from 25 yards that beat the keeper, giving the girls a 1-0 lead. Fifteen minutes into the second half Sydni Scott ‘18 received the ball from Lizzie and placed an emphatic finish into the far corner of the goal. Naya Lipkens ‘18 was spectator for much of the game but showed great concentration when needed and Kenzie Armington ‘15 and Maddie Duchesneau ‘18 kept the play in front of them in difficult conditions. This final league game gave the team their eigth shutout of the season and managed to complete a remarkable turnaround of an 8-8-3 record, compared to the 2-13-2 that was achieved last season.

Varsity Volleyball vs Berkshire: L 0-3
Reap:
Facing a very talented Berkshire team, Porter’s stumbled out of the gates and never really got into the tempo of the match. Serve receive, defense, serving, and hitting all struggled and the lack of any segment of the game working resulted in a quick defeat. Berkshire’s serving kept Porter’s out of rhythm, notching eight aces. Unfortunately, Porter’s was unable to reciprocate, missing 10 serves with only three aces. Offensively, Porter’s could get nothing going with all hitters aside from Milly Herz ‘16 (0.091) hitting negatively for the match. In total, Porter’s had eight kills and 16 errors on 62 attempts, giving them a -.129 hitting average for the match (essentially scoring an addition point for Berkshire every eught attacks).
