Varsity Crew vs. Farmington High School: Hayley Petit Cup: W Porter’s: 1st place Farmington High: 2nd place
Recap: Fantastic racing from all crews yesterday! The girls in our top V8+ all hit the course twice in the 1V4+ and 2V4+ races with wins in all three events. The 3V4+ came in 2nd with a tough loss, Farmington gained a strong lead off of the starting line that we could not recover from. Our intermediate 8+ event came in 3rd place but had five novice rowers up against more experienced lineups. A great first round of racing for all boats, with a lot more speed to gain.
Varsity Golf vs. Hotchkiss: L .5-4.5
Varsity Golf vs. Greenwich Academy: L 0-5
Recap: After a tough opening round for the season, Porter’s second showing was considerably stronger. With significantly better conditions Porter’s went to Hotchkiss for a tri-match with both the host and the vaunted Greenwich Academy golf teams. Porters as a team won three and tied five holes against Greenwich Academy - with a spectacular day by Jennifer Lim ‘16 posting all three hole wins and two of the tied holes herself! Lim’s match against GA required all nine holes to complete, with GA winning the final two holes by a single stroke each. The showing against Hotckiss, the home team, was even more impressive. With several of our players never having played the course before, Porter’s was all tied up with its opponents on either the third or fourth holes in four of the five pairings. Jennifer Lim posted the first points of the season for Porter’s with her tie, giving Porters the .5 to 4.5 final score.
