Hamden Police Charge Second Teen in Connection with Armed Robbery of Shoveling Man

Two town teens have been arrested for robbing a 53-year-old man who was shoveling his stairs on Fairview Avenue last week.

Hamden police have arrested a second town teen in connection of the armed robbery of a 53-year-old man who was shoveling his stairs on Fairview Avenue last week.

Isa Hyatt, 18, of 4150 Whitney Avenue, was arrested on a warrant Thursday for his involvement in the robbery.

Police responded to the Fairview Avenue residence on Feb. 16 and investigation revealed that the man was shoveling his outside stairs when he was approached by an individual who was armed with a handgun, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Smith said the gunman demanded the resident’s belongings, while pointing a firearm at him. Several items, including the victim’s wallet, credit cards and money were stolen.

Detective Joseph Liguori conducted an investigation which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Hyatt.

Officer Robert O’Neill arrested Hyatt, who was walking southbound on Dixwell Avenue, on Thursday and he was subsequently transported to police headquarters.

Hyatt was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, credit card theft and illegal use of a credit card. Hyatt, who was detained on a court-ordered $250,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden Superior Court on March 12.

Police arrested Malik Hanna, 18, on Wednesday for his involvement in the robbery.
