Hamden Police Charge Woman in Connection with Assault, Robbery of Woman Pushed Out of Moving Car

The arrest stems from a January incident in which the victim was driving with two people she met at Mohegan Sun Casino.

Hamden police have arrested a Naugatuck woman in connection with the assault of a Wolcott woman, who was pushed out of a moving vehicle on Whitney Avenue in January.

Annika Ekbergh-Peek, 30, of 71 Cliff Street in Naugatuck, was recently arrested on a warrant for the Jan. 8 incident.

Hamden police responded to the 3700 block of Whitney Avenue around 2 a.m. on Jan. 8 and met with a 33-year-old Wolcott resident regarding a robbery and assault.

The woman advised police that she had earlier met two individuals at the Mohegan Sun Casino. She allowed one of the individuals to drive her vehicle, while the second individual, who was identified as Ekbergh-Peek, was seated in the backseat, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

During the drive through Hamden, the victim was continuously assaulted. She was subsequently pushed out of the moving vehicle and suffered a broken nose, as well as injuries to her eye, hand and ankle. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.

Detective Scott Levenduski of the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Division was assigned the investigation. He subsequently submitted an arrest warrant application for Ekbergh-Peek to the court.

Earlier this month, Ekbergh-Peek was arrested for unrelated charges by the Waterbury Police Department. She was turned over to the custody of the Hamden Police Department.

Ekbergh-Peek was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery involving an occupied motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. She was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court earlier this month.
