Man Shot in the Groin Behind Hamden Bar

Police are searching for the shooter.

A man was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the groin following an altercation Saturday night.

Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Morse Street on the report of a shooting shortly after midnight on Jan. 10, Police Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Investigation revealed that the 24-year-old victim and his girlfriend were walking on Dixwell Avenue when they were approached by an individual, described as a black male, 25 to 30 years of age, 6-feet tall with a medium build and with a mustache.

Smith said a verbal altercation ensued and moments later, the victim and the aforementioned described individual, proceeded behind a Hamden bar to fight.

The victim was then shot once in the groin, behind the bar. The individual fled on foot southbound on the Farmington Canal Trail.
