HAMDEN, CT — A Middletown woman has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle in connection to a crash that killed a 74-year-old man who was crossing the street in a mobility scooter in front of Miller Memorial Library in Hamden earlier this year.
The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on May 26 in front of the library, located at 2901 Dixwell Avenue. Police said that Robert Sheard, 74, of Hamden, was crossing Dixwell Avenue in his mobility scooter, in front of the library.
Sheard wasn’t in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that was being driven by Rosemary Kaliscak, 69, of Middletown, that was heading west on Dixwell Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Sheard was ejected from his mobility scooter and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
