Family Returns Home After Search for Missing Son, Brother

The family from Enfield and Manchester has returned home without answers on how their son, brother went missing during a diving excursion.

The mother and sister of a former Connecticut National Guardsman who went missing while on vacation earlier this month, have returned to their Enfield and Manchester homes after nearly a week in Thailand seeking information about his disappearance.

And they apparently came home without information regarding the disappearance of Joshua Devine, who went missing during a diving excursion earlier this month.

The family of Devine returned home on Friday, according to NBC Connecticut, quoting the Springfield Republican, that reported that Devine’s relatives were unable to contact authorities during their visit. The official search reportedly has ended but patrols are still on the lookout.

Devine’s mother Marie Major and sister Jennifer Bakowski returned Friday to Enfield. They reportedly met with U.S. Embassy and local officials during their visit to Thailand.

The 36-year-old Devine was with his wife, a native of Thailand, and others on a dive boat headed for an excursion in the Similan Islands when he disappeared April 11.

The family had set up a GoFundMe.com page that help collect donations to pay for his family’s trip in hopes of finding him.

According to the Phuket Gazette, Devine was a member of the Connecticut National Guard from 2002 until 2006 and now works as a civilian on a U.S. military base in Kuwait.
