Original Story

The National Weather Service has issued a “Special Weather Statement” and “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Hartford and Tolland counties.

According to the NWS, “a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across much of southern New England between 1 and 9 p.m.”

“Showers and isolated thunderstorms are already beginning to develop south of Long Island New York this morning. Early day clouds will begin to give way to substantial sunshine by late morning. The main threat from these storms will be the potential for localized heavy rainfall and dangerous cloud to ground lightning,” the weather service states.

But the National Weather Service cautions that severe thunderstorms will be possible along with the chance of damaging wind gusts.

After today’s possible stormy weather it looks like we’re dealing with fog in the morning on Friday, followed by sunny and mid 80s by the afternoon.
