Connecticut has a closed primary election system. Therefore, you must belong to either the Democratic or Republican party to participate in their August 14, 2018 primary election. May 14, 2018 was the deadline for a voter to change parties and be eligible to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary. If you are an unaffiliated voter, you may enroll in either party holding a primary by noon on August 13, 2018. Please note that a mail-in application for a new voter must be received by registrar of voters of the town of residence by Thursday, August 9, 2018, except that a mail-in application of new voter postmarked by August 9, 2018 or received by a voter registration agency or the Department of Motor Vehicles by August 9, 2018 may be received by the registrar of voters until 12:00 noon of August 13, 2018.
