Election 2016 Results: Middletown Vote Totals for President, U.S. Senate and Local Races

MIDDLETOWN, CT — On Election Night in Middletown, city residents preferred Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump for president by a 12,957 to 7,124 vote.
In Middletown, Clinton earned 61 percent of the vote compared to Trump’s 33.5 percent, while Gary Johnson received 639 votes, or 3 percent, and Jill Stein had 485 or 2.2 percent.
In the race for U.S. Senate, Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., amassed 14,470 votes on multiple lines and his opponent Dan Carter, a Republican, received 5,519 votes in Middletown.

In the 1st Congressional race, Democratic incumbent John Larsen received 1,424 votes in Middletown compared to 802 for Republican Matthew Corey.
In the 3rd U.S. Congressional race, Democratic incumbent Rosa DeLauro received 12,707 votes on multiple lines while Republican Angel Cadena collected 5,115 votes in Middletown.

In other races, five-term Democratic incumbent Paul Doyle defeated Republican challenger Earle Roberts in the 9th State Senate District. Doyle finished with 8,742 votes in Middletown while Roberts received 4,058.
Republican challenger Len Suzio won back the 13th District State Senate seat he lost to Democratic incumbent Danté Bartolomeo in 2012 with an upset victory on Tuesday.
Suzio declared himself the winner, however, Bartolomeo wasn’t ready to concede, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Middletown Press reports unofficial numbers had Suzio leading with 19,488 votes to Bartolomeo’s 18,513.
In Middletown, Bartolomeo received 4,008 votes on multiple party lines and Suzio received 3,105 votes.
Longtime Democratic incumbent Joseph Serra won another term in the 33rd State House District by defeating Republican Linda Szynkowicz 5,648 to 4,130.
Democratic State Representative Matt Lesser won a fifth term in the 100th District, defeating Republican Anthony R.J. Moran 7,113 to 3,136.
Democrat Elizabeth N.W. Santangelo received 12,175 votes and Republican David Bauer received 7,224 for registrar of voters.
Voters in Middletown also approved two referendum questions on the ballot. Read the questions below:
- Question 1: "Shall the $4,255,000 appropriation and bond and obligation authorization for the planning, design, acquisition, construction, extension and replacement of water and sewer mains in the Columbus Avenue, Mazzotta Place, Erin Street Extension and Berlin Street area of the City, pursuant to the ordinance adopted by the Common Council on August 1, 2016, be approved?"
- Question 2: "Shall the $12,100,000 appropriation and bond and obligation authorization for the planning, acquisition, engineering and installation of radio communication upgrades for the City's Central Communication Department, pursuant to the ordinance adopted by the Common Council on August 22, 2016, be approved?"
