Learn about the causes of the war and why initially the United States stayed out of The Great War, but was gradually and inexorably drawn into the conflict by 1917.

October 31 - The War that Went on Forever
To many of the soldiers fighting, World War I was known as the "War that Went on Forever." Explore the weapons, tactics, and battles that resulted in the dreary stalemate that held sway in Europe for nearly four years.
