Facilities Considered as Alternatives to Middletown's Juvenile Jail: Report
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has called for the DCF's controversial jail in Middletown to be closed and alternative programs are being floated.

HAMDEN, CT — Locations in Hamden and Stratford are being floated as possibilities for alternatives to the Department of Children’s and Families’ controversial jail in Middletown that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has called for to be closed by July 2018, according to the CT Mirror.
The CT Mirror reports that a smaller, more therapeutic program could serve as an alternative to the Connecticut Juvenile Training School.
A new plan from the DCF didn’t provide what the alternative will be, but High Meadows in Hamden or the Ella Grasso Regional Center in Stratford were floated as possible locations, according to the CT Mirror. Both facilities are already owned by the state.
