Man Charged In ATM Theft Crime Ring: Middletown Police

The man was arrested on 34 charges in connection with a string of burglaries targeting ATMs in Middletown and throughout CT, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A sixth man has been arrested in connection with a conspiracy to steal ATMs throughout Connecticut, according to police.

Luis Delvalle, 23, of New Britain, was arrested Wednesday by Middletown police on a warrant for 34 charges in connection with the ATM thefts, according to police.

Delvalle’s charges include corrupt organization and racketeering activity, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, 12 counts of third-degree burglary, six counts of criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit second-degree larceny, three counts of third-degree larceny, three counts of criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny, and seven counts of first-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

He was charged as being part of an organized crew of conspirators, primarily out of New Britain, who are accused of committing burglaries throughout Connecticut and surrounding states since the spring of 2020, according to police.

Police said the warrant charges Delvalle in connection with burglaries in Cromwell, Meriden, Wallingford, New Britain, Coventry, Bristol, Wethersfield, Southington, East Hartford, Torrington, Danbury, and Bethel.

Delvalle was also suspected to have obtained one of the stolen vehicles used in an attempted ATM theft burglary during a carjacking that happened in West Hartford in June 2021, according to police.

“Middletown Police detectives, the lead investigators of this crime ring, were assisted by investigators from the aforementioned jurisdictions, the Connecticut State Police, and the FBI,” police wrote in a news release.

Police said more arrests are expected.
