Man Sues Middletown Over Toy Gun Arrest: Report

The man was accused of brandishing a toy gun while paying his property taxes at Middletown City Hall.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is seeking more than $15,000 in a lawsuit filed against the city in connection to an arrest two years ago in which he was accused of brandishing a toy gun while paying his property taxes at Middletown City Hall, according to the Middletown Press.

The Press reports Robert Baranowsky was eventually acquitted of the charges and the lawsuit states that he never brandished the toy gun and that he had taken it out of his back pocket after forgetting that it was there.

The city is “aggressively” defending the case, according to the Press.
