March Common Council Meeting

Had A Large Turnout!

Mayor Drew opened the March 4th Common Council meeting by thanking all of the Middletown Residents for coming for the Public Hearings on three of the Agenda Items. He said it was the largest turnout he had ever seen. He needed to have the Police and Fire Dept to come because the number of people who attended were more than could be in the meeting room. So people had to wait in the foyer and be allowed in one person at a time when every person finished their 5 minute opinions.

Hundreds came to share their opinions on 51 Green Street Agenda:

Approving the sale of the Green Street Arts Center, located at 51 Green Street, to St. Vincent de Paul of Middletown, subject to the full execution of a purchase and sale agreement by the Mayor, following review and approval as to content and form by the City’s General Counsel. This was the reason why hundreds of the public came to the meeting and the vote was made 41/2 hours after the discussion was completed.

Because of the amendment the lease will have to be approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The Common Council also voted unanimously Monday to hold a LGBTQ Pride celebration on June 15.
