MERIDEN, CT — Approximately 60 taxpayers attended state Sen. Len Suzio’s Jan. 11 community forum at the Meriden Public Library, during which Suzio answered questions and outlined his priorities for the 2017 legislative session.
Suzio, a Republican, represents the 13th Senate District, which includes Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, and Rockfall, and among his priorities are:
- De-funding the state’s Mileage Tax study
- Restoring the funding cuts made to the Honor Guard services at veterans’ funerals
- Reforming the state’s flawed early prison release program
- Exempting Social Security income from the state income tax
“I appreciate the feedback, the give-and-take, and the ideas that the people of our region have in moving our state forward,” said Suzio in a statement. “I am working to protect people’s hard-earned tax dollars, and I will be a strong voice for them at the State Capitol.”
