Crews are reminding Middletown motorists to avoid driving near active fire scenes, while the American Red Cross is assisting two displaced adults from the affected home.
   

• Middletown Health Department Offering Free Tobacco Cessation Classes (patch.com) — Middletown residents looking to quit smoking can join a free virtual Freedom From Smoking course run by the city's Health Department starting Sept. 28. Adults 18 and older, regardless of insurance or residency status, can learn quitting strategies over eight sessions supported by federal preventive health funding.
   

• A month after complaints, problems persist at Middletown elderly housing complex (nhregister.com) — Elderly residents at 142 S. Main St. in Middletown say serious issues like flooding, a disconnected alarm system, and a decommissioned elevator still aren't fully resolved, despite multiple city inspections. The mayor says state rules limit what Middletown can force the owner to fix, while the landlord cites roof, boiler, and other repairs as tenant advocates press for stronger protections.
