Lauralton Hall Hosts Annual Powder Puff Football Game

Lauralton Hall Hosts Annual “Powder Puff” Football Game

Spirits ran high at Lauralton Hall on Tuesday afternoon, November 20th as the school hosted its 3rd Annual Powder Puff Football game between the seniors and the juniors. “This is a great tradition,” said Lauralton Hall business and math teach Jill Waldron who coached the seniors. “It’s the perfect start to the Thanksgiving holiday as it brings different “generations’ of the Lauralton family together.”

Students, teachers, administrators, friends and family members cheered from the sidelines. Principal Ann Pratson said, “I love the Powder Puff game. It gives the girls a chance to show their school spirit. They work hard, but they also have tons of fun.”  Katherine Foley and Taylor Westermann, co-captains for the Jamming Juniors, were excited to have the opportunity to prove themselves as juniors. “It’s also a great way for the school to come together,” said Taylor.

The game was intensely competitive, with both sides exhibiting keen strategies and making ‘Superbowl-worthy’ saves and touchdowns.   Ultimately ‘seniority’ prevailed with the seniors winning 28 to 7.  Social studies teacher Christine Redding, who coached the juniors along with students Meredith Peloso and Britanny Galuppo, said, “Considering they only play football once a year, I was amazed at their skill and determination.  I am very proud of both teams.”

The Lauralton Hall community looks forward to continuing this fun tradition next year. The junior and senior classes thank the staff and fans for their support and the referees, the Ciambriello brothers,  for volunteering their time.
