Former City Lawyer Apparently Wins Case -- Against City

City reaches agreement with former Assistant City Attorney Cynthia Anger.

A former assistant city attorney, who was reportedly fired last year, has apparently won her case against the city, reaping her pension, according to City Hall.

The City of Milford and Cynthia Anger have announced that they have resolved "by mutual agreement" the issues surrounding Anger’s employment by the city, according to a press release issued Wednesday from the mayor's office.

The Connecticut Post reported last year that Anger had been "summarily fired" after serving the city for more than 20 years. The reasons were not totally clear.

"The City has accepted Anger’s retirement from her position as Assistant City Attorney, effective February 24, 2010, her last day of full-time employment," the two-page release states. "Anger will receive her pension benefits from that date."

So that the city may receive the benefit of Anger’s knowledge and experience, the city and Anger have also agreed on a transitional consulting arrangement, according to the release.

On behalf of the city, Mayor James L. Richetelli, Jr. expressed his appreciation to Anger for her service, and Anger expressed her appreciation for the opportunity she has had to serve the City of Milford and its citizens for 22 years, the release stated.

Both parties expressed satisfaction that the issues between them could be resolved in a fair and amicable way, according to the release.
