Taking Entrance Exam Now Offers Unique Opportunity for a Head Start on Admissions Process

Although Lauralton Hall is rooted in tradition, the high school is at the forefront of educational trends including “early decision.” The all-girls, college-prep school offers students the opportunity to secure early acceptance to 9th grade by taking the entrance exam at the end of 7th grade.

This year, interested 7th graders can take the High School Placement Test by Scholastic Testing Service on Saturday, May 6 at 8:00 a.m.The exam takes place at Lauralton Hall, 200 High Street, Milford. The registration fee is $60. There is no additional fee to take the exam in 8th grade or to apply.

“We started offering the 7th grade exam option several years ago in response to a growing number of families who wanted to make plans early for high school,” said Kathleen Shine, Director of Enrollment Management at Lauralton Hall. “Students receive their scores in June and can decide to apply early to Lauralton or take the exam again in the fall of 8th grade. Based on our experience, there truly is no downside to taking the exam now.”
