Police responded to a report of a car crashing into a New Haven Avenue home's porch Feb. 28. The driver had left the scene of the accident, police said in a statement.
Police said they later determined that Brennan, 41, of Milford, was the driver. He was off duty at the time of the crash.

Brennan initially told police he was a passenger in the car, but later admitted he was the driver, according to WFSB 3-TV.
Police Chief Keith Mello had recommended Brennan's firing. An internal investigation found that Brennan "was not truthful regarding his involvement in the incident. Such conduct is a clear violation of the standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism that are fundamental to this department and the law enforcement profession," according to Mello.
