STAMFORD, CT — Michelle Troconis, the 45-year-old former girlfriend of the late Fotis Dulos, is scheduled to return to Stamford Superior Court on Friday, as her attorney argues to try to have the terms of her release on bond relaxed in the Jennifer Farber Dulos disappearance and murder case.

Attorney Jon Schoenhorn pushed for Friday's hearing following delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. He began representing Troconis earlier this year, taking over the defense from her previous attorney, Andrew Bowman.

Troconis has been wearing a GPS tracking device above one of her ankles since her initial arrest in early June 2019, and in a lengthy motion filed last week, Schoenhorn argued that the requirement has been onerous, and the device should be removed. During the Tropical Storm Isaias, Troconis' probation officer ordered her to leave home to find power to charge the GPS device because its battery was running low.

"Even convicted offenders seldom are subject to house arrest and GPS monitoring," Schoenhorn wrote, adding that Troconis has not been convicted of anything. Therefore, the conditions "constitute punishment imposed without cause and without due process."

In addition to the relaxing of nonfinancial conditions of Troconis' release, Schoenhorn also is seeking to have the venue for the trial changed from Stamford to Hartford, primarily because he argues that the conspiracy charge leveled against her is alleged to have occurred in the Hartford jurisdiction.

Jennifer Dulos disappeared from her New Canaan home, in the Stamford court jurisdiction, on May 24, 2019. Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, was accused of murdering her though her body has never been found. Fotis Dulos took his own life in January before he could stand trial.

"Michelle Troconis is merely charged with criminal offenses," Schoenhorn wrote. "She has pleaded not guilty, and remains innocent of any crime. She did not violate a single condition imposed on her going back to June of 2019, despite their onerousness and lack of justification."

Reached by Patch on Thursday, Schoenhorn declined to discuss the case before his appearance on Friday.

"I will wait until tomorrow to comment further," Schoenhorn told Patch.
