New Canaan Economic Development/Tourism Group Debuts This Month
The new committee has already been expanded before it's even been established.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Even though it hasn't officially launched yet, a new economic development/tourism committee established by New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan is proving to be a popular addition to the town.
Originally thought to be an 11-member group, the committee will now have 15 members because interest in joining the committee has been high, according to Moynihan.
In fact, about 30 people have expressed interest in joining the group, some of whom are not residents. Because the group will be a committee and not a commission, it will not be bound by New Canaan residency rules and will allow for non-residents to join who have businesses or dealings in the community.

"We will appoint the members of the committee on Dec. 17," Moynihan told Patch. "Having so many interested parties is a good problem to have."
The new committee will be loosely based on similar groups in other Fairfield County communities and will help publicize the town's attractions, including the Glass House, Grace Farms, Waveny Park and the downtown shopping and dining district.
