New Canaan's Joe Scarborough Ends Republican Party Affiliation: Report
Over the summer, the popular host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" said he was leaving the party because he believes it lost its way.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Three months after telling Stephen Colbert that he would leave the Republican party, Joe Scarborough finally did it on Thursday and became an unaffiliated voter, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.
A former Republican Congressman from Florida who now resides in New Canaan, Scarborough said in July that the GOP had lost "its core values" in recent years, culminating in its support of Donald Trump for president. And the party's subsequent silence as Trump bulldozes his way over presidential norms.
"Time and time and time again, they turn the other way, and they're doing the same thing now," said Scarborough of the Republican party over the summer. "It's actually disgusting, and you have to ask yourself, what exactly is the Republican party willing to do? How far are they willing to go? How much of this country or its values are they willing to sell out?"

Scarborough met with New Canaan Registrar of Voters John Amarilios at Town Hall on Thursday to fill out the paperwork to end his GOP affiliation.
Though he made the announcement in July, Scarborough appeared to waffle a month later when it was first revealed that he had not yet unregistered as a Republican. But that delay could partially be explained by his desire to vote in the New Canaan Republican primary, which he did, though the candidate he backed ended up losing.
