• Roof of former Ortronics building in Norwich collapses, taking part of wall with it (theday.com) — A section of roof and wall recently collapsed at the vacant former Ortronics factory on Eighth Street in Norwich's Greeneville neighborhood, sending debris near a Norwich Public Utilities substation but injuring no one. City officials say the owner has braced the damaged wall and is moving ahead with roof and wall repairs, while warning residents to stay out of the building.
   

• Mayor: To revive CT city, don't miss the window, 'the urgency is now' (courant.com) — Norwich's mayor is pushing hard to seize a narrow window for growth, backing an Amazon fulfillment center, a new industrial park, and major school and park investments to boost jobs and tax revenue. He's also promoting historic mill conversions, a new police station, and downtown housing to revive the city's economy and shake its "distressed" status.
   

• Coast Guard adds seven to Athletic Hall of Fame (theday.com) — A Norwich Free Academy graduate, distance runner Marc Akus, is among seven former Coast Guard Academy standouts and one championship rowing team being inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in New London this October. The class highlights decades of Division III success, from national titles and All-American honors to record-setting performances across multiple sports.
