Ridgefield Man Charged for Son's Hot Car Death Faces Sentencing

Kyle Seitz, 36 entered an Alford Plea in the case last month.

The Ridgefield man charged with criminally negligent homicide in the hot car death of his 15-month-old infant son will be sentenced today at 2 p.m.

Kyle Seitz, 36, is accused of leaving his son, Benjamin Seitz unattended in a car in July when temperatures soared into the 80s.

Seitz entered an Alford Plea last month, where the defendant does not admit to a criminal act, but does admit that there is enough evidence that would likely result in a guilty finding if the case were to go to trial.

According to the News Times, Seitz is unlikely to serve prison time for his conviction.

Seitz told police he did not know why he forgot to drop off his son at day care before he went to work, the paper reports. When he realized his son had been left in the car all day, he drove to Danbury Hospital but it was too late and Ben died of hyperthermia.
