Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund Sponsors Shredding Event in Rocky Hill
Event Benefits Local Families with Free Paper Shredding and School Supplies
Bearingstar Insurance held a community shredding event in the parking lot of their Rocky Hill location last Saturday, August 16th. At the event, Bearingstar provided professional shredding services to the community free of charge, and collected school supplies for area children.
Visitors to the event were allowed to shred up to ten boxes of sensitive documents on site through Shred-It paper shredding and recycling services. The amount of paper that was processed saved the equivalent of six trees. Participants were encouraged to bring at least one new, unopened school supply to donate to local underprivileged families in exchange for the shredding services. The Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund also donated $2,000 to the Town of Rocky Hill’s Human Services Department to go towards more school supplies.
“One of our missions at Bearingstar Insurance is to make a positive difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Jennifer Lajoie, a sales consultant at Bearingstar Insurance and the coordinator of the shredding event. “Consumer fraud and identity theft are a major issue across the country so we were happy to assist our neighbors in destroying their confidential documents safely, while also collecting school supplies for children in need.”
