Lodge at Cold Spring’s Car Show Raises $2,000 for Charity
The retirement community's fourth annual car show was a huge success, and a lot of fun, for everyone that was there.
The Lodge at Cold Spring Retirement Community’s 4th Annual Car Show was a hit this past weekend, raising approximately $2,000 for Seniors Have Dreams Too, an organization similar to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, except for senior citizens with limited resources. Held on Saturday, the 15th, the show featured over 40 classic and custom cars for residents and guests to enjoy. The cars ranged from modern Chevrolet Corvettes with custom work done to restored, classic pick-up trucks, and all were amazing displays of workmanship.
The event was organized largely by The Lodge’s Maintenance Director Bill Purcell and his car club, Saturday Night Cruizers. There were raffles going on for gift baskets donated by local businesses and vendors, and The Lodge’s Bus Driver, Ron Casasanta, provided entertainment by playing and even singing “oldies” tunes. Hamburgers and hot dogs were grilled during the afternoon, and served in Pink Cadillac-shaped boxes. At the end of the show, all the participants received trophies not only to show recognition for their car, but also as thanks for supporting a great cause. It was an event where everyone involved drove home with a smile.
