South Windsor Obituary: Anthony Chiarenza, 66

Condolences to his family and friends.

Anthony R. Chiarenza, 66, of South Windsor, loving and devoted husband of Patricia (Norcross) Chiarenza for 39 years, passed away peacefully Tuesday (October 4, 2016) at Harford Hospital with his family by his bedside.

He was born January 2, 1950 in Taurianova, Province of Calabria, Italy and was the son of the late Agostino and Grace (Morgante) Chiarenza. Tony served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Aetna Insurance Company. Tony was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor and was a member of the Elks and the American Legion. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Besides his wife Pat, Tony is survived by his two sons, Michael and Johnny Chiarenza; his daughter, Melissa Chiarenza; his adored granddaughter, Gianna and his sister, Francesca Macri, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Rocco Chiarenza and sister, Teresa Tollis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
