It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Josephine Dziama, the beloved wife of the late Walter Dziama, at the age of 85, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. A self-described ‘hot ticket’, Josie was loving, funny, generous, curious, outspoken, and talked to everyone she met. She was a great cook who said there was always room for one more at her table.
Born in Passaic, NJ to the late Salvatore and Josephine (Lazzara) Lomauro, she was raised in New Jersey and taught in the public school system before moving to Rochester, NY and finally settling in South Windsor in 1964. Josie was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. She was active in the South Windsor Bowling league and was very involved in all her children’s activities.
Later moving to Westerly RI, she started her own business, Josie’s Creations, at age 70, selling her hand made scarves in local boutiques and at various craft shows. Josie loved her music and was famous for knowing all the lyrics to every song she heard. She was an avid painter, and her pictures adorn the walls of friends and family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed.
