Popular Retail Fashion Chain Closes Location At CT Mall
The fashion retailer, which previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2019, closed the location in late June.

STAMFORD, CT — Forever 21, the retail fashion chain popular among teenagers, has closed its location at the Stamford Town Center mall.
Stamford Town Center General Manager Dan Stolzenbach told Patch in an email that the retailer closed on June 25.
Stolzenbach referred inquiries on the closing to Forever 21's parent company. Patch has reached out to Forever 21 for comment.

"Incidentally, we already have a couple of deals in the works for this space, so look for those announcements in the coming weeks," Stolzenbach said.
There are now seven Forever 21 locations remaining in Connecticut, according to the company website: Tanger Outlets Foxwoods in Mashantucket; Crystal Mall in Waterford; Westfarms Mall in Farmington; Connecticut Post Mall in Milford; Trumbull Mall; Meriden Mall; and The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester.

According to the Stamford Advocate, the remaining CT stores will stay open.
Previously, in 2019, Forever 21 announced it was closing 178 stores across the country as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as a "deliberate and decisive step to put us on a successful track for the future," a letter said to customers at the time.
In 2020, Forever 21 was sold to Authentic Brands Group, Simon Property Group and Brookfield Property Partners for $81 million.
The Stamford Town Center mall, which is located at 100 Greyrock Place, has gone through some changes in recent years.
In July 2021, it was announced that Gap, an original tenant of the Stamford Town Center, was going to close after almost 40 years.
In September 2021, Saks Off 5th announced that it, too, would close its doors at the mall.
A new Saks Off 5th opened last October at 110 High Ridge Road, the site of the former Lord & Taylor. Starbucks and Michael Kors have also closed at the Stamford mall in recent years.
Earlier this year, Banana Republic announced its departure from the mall and cited a plan to close stores across North America.
However, the mall has experienced an influx of new tenants and restaurants, such as Brazilian steakhouse Terra Gaucha and Mexican eatery Puerto Vallarta.
New York Comedy Club also opened its first CT location at the mall complex.
Up next, Pickleball America, billed as one of the largest indoor pickleball facilities in the United States, will open up 27 courts at the mall in the space formerly occupied by Saks Off 5th.
A soft opening of 13 courts was originally scheduled for July 10, but it was delayed toward the end of the month.
