Interim Economic Development Director Appointed, Staffing Changes Announced In Stratford (patch.com) — Stratford residents are seeing a shakeup in the town's Economic Development Department, as Mayor David Chess names his chief of staff, Caryn Kaufman, interim director to guide ongoing projects and small business support. Consultant Mike Freimuth will advise on strategy while the town develops a long-term staffing plan, following the departure of key economic development leaders Jimmy Capra and Anne Gaydos.

Stratford CrierStratford Animal Rescue Society Announces Annual Monster Mash to Benefit Animals (stratfordcrier.com) — Stratford residents are invited to a Halloween-themed Monster Mash fundraiser on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Riverview Bistro on Ferry Boulevard, supporting animals cared for by Stratford Animal Control. For $75, guests get food, limited open bar, and entertainment, while local businesses and individuals can also sponsor the event to boost lifesaving services for animals in town.

Restoration of historic community center earns preservation award (constructionspecifier.com) — Stratford's Sterling Community Center has earned a 2026 Connecticut Preservation Award after a major restoration that upgraded safety, accessibility, and comfort while preserving its 1886 character. The work ensures this landmark can keep hosting summer camp, preschool, food pantry services, senior programs, and community events that many Stratford residents rely on every week.
   

4. Derby man planned to use cocaine to 'come down' from heroin after crash that killed CTDOT worker: Police report (wtnh.com) — A CTDOT worker based out of the Stratford garage was killed Friday while clearing debris along I-95 South in Fairfield, and a Derby man now faces manslaughter and drug-related charges. State police say the driver admitted using heroin shortly before the crash, and investigators allege he planned to use cocaine afterward as they detail his impaired condition at the scene.
   

5. Metro-North adds New Haven train directly to Yankee Stadium for Wild Card Series (wtnh.com) — Stratford riders can catch special one-seat Metro-North "Yankee Clipper" trains from New Haven to Yankee Stadium for this week's Wild Card Series, with stops including Stratford on the way. Two late-afternoon departures get fans to the Bronx in time for first pitch, alongside added service on other lines for the Yankees–Red Sox showdown.
