Former Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Trial Jury Selection Begins

Hernandez is a Bristol, Conn. native. Some interesting anecdotes came out of day one of jury selection, including one man yelling "Go Pats!"

Jury selection for the Aaron Hernandez trial began Friday. Turns out some people know sure fire ways to get out of jury duty.

One man was reportedly sent home after he showed up wearing a Boston Bruin’s jersey and yelled “Go Pats,” before being dismissed from his civic duty, according to Boston.com.

Hernandez, a former New England Patriots football star, is accused of traveling with two associates to pick up Odin Lloyd, who would later be shot and killed on June 17, 2013, according to the Boston Globe.

Hernandez hails from Bristol, Conn. and played football at Bristol Central High School. In 2007 he was considered the top tight end recruit in the nation, according to Scout.com.

No sports attire is allowed during this jury selection. The selection took place in Bristol Superior Court in Fall River, Mass., according to the Boston Globe.

There were about 125 jurors who went through the process Friday and as many as 1,000 people are expected to be brought through, according to Boston.com.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in a separate Boston double murder case.
