Creepy Clown Threats Prompt Police Presence at Wallingford Schools
Wallingford will have added extra police patrols on Wednesday as a result of menacing clown-related social media threats.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Lyman Hall High School will have an increased police presence on Wednesday as a result of the “creepy” clown threats that have been popping up on social media throughout the state.
A threat was made specifically against Lyman Hall on social media and school officials immediately notified police, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Salvatore Menzo.
“It has come to our attention that an Instagram message was sent stating, ‘Lyman Hall better watch out’ from newhaven.clown,” Menzo said in an email to parents late Tuesday night. “We were in immediate contact with the Wallingford Chief of Police. As a result, there will be a police presence at Lyman Hall High School tomorrow.

“Please be assured that we take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously. We will continue to monitor the situation and work collaboratively with the local authorities.”
In an update late Tuesday night, Menzo said that officials received “word of another clown comment regarding Sheehan High School.”

Menzo said police were again notified and they will also be present at Sheehan High School. Police will additionally visit the surrounding schools in the morning, according to Menzo.
Cheshire Police also announced on Tuesday evening that they are investigating social media threats of the “creepy clown at schools” and to expect an increased police presence at schools on Wednesday.
North Haven had an increased police presence at all of its public schools on Tuesday, similar to the response in Naugatuck.
Naugatuck Police announced late Tuesday that they arrested two teens in connection to the “clown” social media postings that were made on Monday.
Naugatuck Police investigated several social media posts that vaguely mentioned clowns and local schools. Security and a police presence was added at schools Tuesday.
Naugatuck Police also provided updates throughout the day that all was well at the schools.
A rumor spread that Quinnipiac University in Hamden was on lockdown Monday night, but the school tweeted that everything was running normally. Public safety received several reports about a clown but found nothing upon investigation, according to the Hartford Courant.
