Probation For Man Who Ran Chop Shop In Westport Carjacking: Report
The stolen Aston-Martin convertible from a violent 2023 carjacking in Westport was found at the chop shop in Berlin.
WESTPORT, CT — The 40-year-old Berlin man, who police said ran the vehicle chop shop where a stolen Aston-Martin from a Westport carjacking was found, was sentenced to five years probation in connection with the crime, The Hour reported.
Derrick McGill was arrested following the violent, September 2023 carjacking in Westport, and was charged with operating an illegal chop shop, motor vehicle larceny and related violations.
In the spring, he was sentenced to four years in prison, suspended, and five years probation, having pleaded guilty to the chop shop charge and a credit card theft charge. News of the sentencing only recently came to light through court records obtained by The Hour.

Three other people were arrested in connection with the carjacking, but their cases have not yet been fully adjudicated.
