Wethersfield Police: Jaywalking Swans Are Repeat Offenders
Police had to again close off a section of Silas Deane Highway because of a wandering swan.
WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield police on Wednesday said they are now considering some local swans to be repeat offenders.
A section of Silas Deane Highway near by Wells Road had to be closed off closed off on Wednesday for the second time in less than a week because they were waddling on the road again, police said.
Police released a photo of the latest incident and a mug shot of the culprit.

A wandering swan also disrupted traffic along the road on Saturday, police said.
Officers said the swans are likely coming over from Spring Street Pond.

Motorists have had to stop for them on other roads too.
"Had a run in with her last week on Spring Street ... wandering in the middle of the road," one WPD Facebook follower posted. "Even the horn did not scare her ... or him. Whatever, it's a beautiful bird."
