After investigating, police found a blue Ford Escape with heavy front end damage in the driveway of 9 Wilton Acres an hour later. After further investigation police learned that the vehicle was owned and recently driven by Jonathan Damast, 43, at the same address.
Police made contact with Damast, who denied driving the car. Damast's mother told police that she believed her son was intoxicated, according to the police report.

Damast was arrested and charged with DUI, evading responsibility, and following too closely. He was held on $1,000 bail and scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court the next day.
While in his cell later on in the evening, Damast admitted to driving the SUV and being involved in the accident, according to police.
This was not Damast's first brush with the law, nor even his first hit-and-run. He was charged with providing a false statement, reckless driving and evading after police say he side-swiped a car on Danbury Road back in February 2017.
