2016 DC Funk Parade is Shutting Down U Street -- Here's Where to Avoid

The parade will take over a part of the U Street area Saturday afternoon.

The third annual D.C. Funk Parade is getting its groove on in the U Street area this weekend, so if you're planning on driving in the general vicinity on Saturday, we've mapped out where you ought to avoid.

The closures for the Funk Parade will start at 3:45 p.m. and continue until the parade ends at around 5 p.m. May 7. You may also want to avoid even being near the area around that time, as the huge event celebrating the music and art scene in the District is expected to draw more than 75,000 people this year.

D.C. police said in a statement that the parade will assemble in the 600 block of T Street NW between Florida Avenue and 7th Street, and will proceed from there west on T Street to Vermont Avenue. Then, it will head northeast on Vermont Avenue to U Street, and then head west to the 1200 block of U Street where the parade will end.
