Police Charge Man In Shooting Of MPD Officer
D.C. police charged a 28-year-old man with assault with intent to kill a police officer in connection with a Jan. 23 shooting.
WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. police charged a 28-year-old man with assault with intent to kill a police officer in connection with a Jan. 23 shooting that injured a police officer in Northwest D.C.
Davon Easton of Northwest was arrested Tuesday by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to police.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday, uniformed Metropolitan Police Department officers were on patrol in the 1300 block of Spring Road Northwest. The officers attempted to make contact with a man.

Easton is accused of firing a handgun several times at the officers before fleeing the scene. The officer who was shot was taken to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. He was released from the hospital Sunday night.
A gun with an extended magazine that police believe was used by the suspect was recovered inside a nearby residence, police said.

Easton was charged with assault with intent to kill while armed, felony assault on a police officer, possession of a firearm during crime of violence or dangerous offense, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The MPD said it worked with the Washington Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which provided on-the-scene assistance and evidence processing in the case.
