Nearly 43,000 DC Residents Tested For Coronavirus To Date

D.C. Health Department confirmed 105 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the number of District residents who've tested positive to 7,893.

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Department of Health confirmed six new deaths Friday due to COVID-19, the illness associated with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 418.

D.C. Health also confirmed 105 new positive COVID-19 cases. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the District stands at 7,893.

  • 86-year-old female
  • 87-year-old female
  • 89-year-old male

  • 93-year-old female
  • 95-year-old male

On Thursday, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the District was on track for a phased reopening on Friday, May 29, provided the city continued to meet the milestones laid out by D.C. Health.

D.C. Health has confirmed 42,933 District residents have been tested for the coronavirus and 1,069 have recovered. Contact tracing investigations are focused positive cases tied to health care workers and first responders, senior care facilities, correctional and detention centers, child care facilities and facilities serving homeless individuals.

Globally, more than 5.1 million people have been infected by COVID-19, and over 333,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported Friday morning. In the United States, more than 1.5 million people have been infected and over 94,000 people have died from COVID-19.
