UPS Driver Robbed At Gunpoint In Safeway Parking Lot: Report
The driver was sorting boxes in the truck when he was approached from behind by the robbers, according to reports.
WASHINGTON, DC — A UPS driver was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday as he was sorting boxes in a Safeway parking lot. The driver was approached from behind by the robbers, who showed him a handgun and told him to lie on the ground, according to a report.
The robbery happened at the Safeway at Alabama Avenue and Naylor Road in Southeast DC, WJLA reports. The robbers stole an undisclosed number of packages and the driver's personal bookbag before fleeing.
According to the Washington Post, one of the robbers took the driver’s cellphone from his pocket and asked, “Where are the iPhones?” The Post also reported the personal property stolen from the driver was worth $450.

The robbery follows another in the area targeting a U.S. Postal Service delivery vehicle. On Monday, a USPS truck was stolen near the intersection of 14th and Quincy streets in northwest Washington. Police said approximately 400 packages were stolen from the truck.
